Have you ever found yourself spiraling in a complexity of darkness and fear? “Where am I ?” “Who am I ” “Where do I go from here?” “How do I get out of this?”
Well, Let me assure you. You are not alone.
There are certain situations in life that causes us to derail and go off course into oblivion; a dark road of worry and fear. Fear and worry strips us of the strength that we need to get through the day. Don’t let it. The main point to know today is that we can find refuge and strength in God’s Word. We can find stability and peace if we just learn how to trust in HIM.
At this point in life, I am learning to lean and depend more and more on the Truth, Not my opinions or feelings. Psalm 23 states that “The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want.” This means that we already have everything we need, in HIM. Peace, Joy, Safety, Stability, etc…
WE ARE HIS FLOCK
Think of sheep in a pasture. They already have food, clothes, water, protection, and guidance from the Shepherd. Well, we are God’s sheep. He makes sure that we have everything we need.
But, what happens when one of the sheep strays away and runs off into the deep woods? What feeling do you think will start coming to the sheep? Often times, fear and worry try and overtake our minds, especially when we are headed in a new direction, or when we wonder out of the place that God has already prepared for us.
Psalm 23:4 “Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me.”
Ok Wow! Lets step back for a moment.
Even in the darkest valleys, Lord you are with me! Even in the valley of the shadow of death, you are with me! Even when I run off and make mistakes or blindly go into the wrong direction, YOU are Still With Me, and I trust you to lead me back to safety!
There is a story about a man and a boy walking home from the store. Now, they live in the country so, at night it gets really dark. While it was light outside, the boy was running along past the man playing with the rocks he saw along the way. As the sun started to set and it became less and less light out, the boy would still play but he started to wait on the man, and when it got really dark, the boy grabbed the man’s hand because he couldn’t see. They made it home safe.
Do you see the illustration of our faith and dependence on God? When everything is sunny and seems to be going well, we have great faith and know that God is with us, but when things start looking dark, we begin seeking God more; wondering if he is still with us. I want to encourage you today that God is awesome, and he is right here with you. His word proves true. There is no need to worry or fear, because our Great Shepherd is here.
Psalm 46:10 “BE STILL AND KNOW THAT I AM GOD.”
